As parents we’ll never forget it, as a baby Sonny will never remember it, but this was a huge day for us as a family that we’ll look back on with fond memories for many years.
Today was a momentous day for me as a dad, because Gemma popped into the office for the first time since Sonny was born – leaving us to fend for ourselves. For an entire day! Here’s how it went…
One of our biggest concerns before Sonny was born was how our jack russell Mario would take to him. The dog has had our undivided attention for the past 9 years, but with a few simple adjustments to his lifestyle he seems to have accepted the newcomer to his home.
We may not be doing the most important job, but that doesn’t mean dads don’t need a break every now and again too. I’ve found that sneaking out of the house from time to time helps keep me sane, refreshed and even more motivated to be the best dad I can be when I get home.
Trying to fit work commitments around the demands of supporting a new family is probably the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my life, but I’m still loving every second.
