Full body suits are great for keeping young kids dry, warm and clean on winter walks. We test out three of the best toddler puddle suits for 2021.
There’s not a huge difference between puddle suits and snowsuits. Both tend to be fully waterproof one-piece bits of clothing, with the difference being that snowsuits usually have an extra layer of insulation.
The three suits we’ve tested here all fit into both categories, being fully waterproof and featuring a cosy layer of insulation too.
So here’s what we think are the three best toddler puddle suits for 2021…
So popular it was out of stock online at the time of writing, the Spotty Otter Forest Leader Insulated Suit is pretty much perfect for everything from splashing through puddles and squelching through mud to rolling around in snow. And at a very affordable price! You can often pick it up online for less than £50, which for a quality piece of outdoor kit with as much performance as this gives you, is a great price. Our 1-year-old has used it non-stop since autumn and it’s proved to be very durable. Can’t fault it.

The Rolls Royce of toddler puddle suits! Finnish kids’ brand Reima make an unbelievable range of outdoor clothing and kit for kids – probably the best we’ve come across in the past 4 years. And the Lappi Snowsuit is very hard to fault. It has instant visual appeal thanks to the snuggly and furry hood lining (not pictured above because we’d detached it for a wash!) and gets even more points for being washing machine and tumble dryer friendly. The silicone foot loops are also great for keeping wellies on toddlers’ feet, because if your kid is anything like either of mine they’re always coming off!

Swedish outdoor brand Isbjorn was founded by two mums wanting to make better outdoor kit for their own kids, and you can feel that passion in every piece of gear they make. We first tested the Penguin Snowsuit back in 2018 with our now 4-year-old, and we’ve included it in this review because it’s still going strong 3 years later. Isbjorn kit isn’t too easy to find in the UK at the moment, which is a shame because it really is great stuff. The Penguin Snowsuit is their best-selling piece of gear in Scandinavia and has won Best in Test awards seven times over the years. It’s possibly the trickiest of the three puddle suits we’ve tested to squeeze into because of the more fitted design, but once on it’s absolutely bombproof.
