Want to go family camping without the hassle of pitching tents and blowing up air beds? Then the Safari Tents at Ready Camp Hayfield could be the answer!
In a nutshell, Ready Camp is camping without the hassle. You simply rock up at one of the Camping and Caravanning’s 48 glamping locations around Britain, check into your ready-built safari tent, then settle back to relax for the weekend.
Our first camping trip as a family of four was at Hayfield Campsite in the beautiful Peak District. Our youngest son still hadn’t turned two so we wanted to ease him into camping gently, and this turned out to be the perfect option.

Hayfield Campsite is set at the foot of Kinder Scout in the northern part of the Peak District known as the ‘Dark Peak’. The site itself is located in a narrow wooded gorge, alongside a bubbling stream with a great selection of walks and mountain bike trails starting straight from the campsite. The pretty village of Hayfield is about a 15-minute walk downhill, with some nice pubs, a couple of small shops for supplies, a good chippy and a fantastic park for kids.
Great campsite facilities
I’ve not stayed on many Camping and Caravanning Club sites but the ones I have visited have always been excellent. And Hayfield is no exception. This is an immaculately maintained site with everything you’d want as a family. There’s a very good toilet and shower block with a large private family shower room, which is perfect if you have young children.
If you aren’t using a Ready Camp tent, you can also book standard camping camping pitches for tents and campervans that include electrical hook-ups if you want one. There’s a playground for young kids with slides and swings, a drying room for wet kit, BBQ stands, and an on-site shop (although this was closed when we visited for pandemic reasons).
The staff are also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the local area, and happy to help out with any issues you might have.
Ready Camp Safari Tents
These fantastic glamping tents sleep up to six people (2 adults, 4 children), with two double beds, a single bunk, and a single pull-out bed. The bedrooms also benefit from blackout material meaning you won’t be wide awake at sunrise, plus heaters if it’s chilly during the night.
You get clothes storage in your tent, a settee, dining table with six chairs, comfy camping chairs, a fridge freezer, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave and a 2-ring hob.
They’re also stocked with all the plates, glasses, cutlery and utensils you could possibly need – it’s basically like hiring a holiday cottage with canvas walls! All you need to do is bring your own food and drink…
Awesome for young kids
Our boys (aged five and two at the time of writing) love camping and would gladly spend the weekend sleeping in the dirt if we let them, but that doesn’t mean we always want to! Camping with Ready Camp basically takes all of the hassle out of camping. It reduces the amount of gear you need to take with you and allows you to relax knowing you’re on a campsite with great facilities, more often than not in a stunning location. The other bonus is that there are likely to be plenty of other families staying on the same campsite, meaning your kids will have the chance to make friends to play with throughout your stay (so you can put your feet up for once).
Verdict: Ready Camp Hayfield
Perfect for young families who want to add some luxury and lose the hassle from their camping trips. Our two boys had the time of their life. And thanks to the amazing facilities on this lovely campsite, so did we!The Outdoor Dad
